SPORTS FOR KIDS TO HOST FREE VOLLEYBALL RECRUITING ROUNDTABLE AND SPORTSMANSHIP SEMINAR FOR COACHES, PARENTS, AND PLAYERS MAY 27

ST. LOUIS — May 17, 2004 — The St. Louis Sports Commission's Sports for Kids program is hosting a free Coach Education/Parent Education volleyball recruiting roundtable and sportsmanship seminar Thursday, May 27 at the Washington University Field House.

The program begins at 7 p.m. and is open to volleyball coaches from all levels, parents, administrators, and players. Participants will receive expert advice on the college recruiting process from two of the top volleyball coaches in the area.

Featured speakers include: Rich Luenemann, head volleyball coach at Washington University and 2003 NCAA Division III Coach of the Year; Anne Kordes, head volleyball coach at Saint Louis University; and Bill Bommarito, sportsmanship expert from Coaching Concepts, Inc.

Under the banner of Coach it Right!, Sports for Kids organizes free coaching programs and clinics that educate, train and motivate volunteer youth coaches in various sports. The Coach Education/Parent Education program encourages coaches and parents to provide positive environments for young athletes to help them excel on and off the playing field. The mission of Sports for Kids is to help young people from St. Louis live healthier, happier and more productive lives through sports.

This year, Sports for Kids has produced a Coach it Right! track & field coaches clinic at Normandy High School and an NCAA Youth Education through Sports (YES) wrestling clinic at Savvis Center. Sports for Kids also hosted a Sports Career Day for more than 200 students in the Fort Zumwalt School District in St. Charles County and has a free baseball coaches clinic scheduled for May 22 at GMC Stadium in Sauget, Ill.
