SPORTS COMMISSION AND BJC HEALTHCARE
LAUNCH LOCAL YOUTH SPORTS SURVEY

RESULTS OF THE SURVEY WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER THIS SUMMER
AS PART OF A LOCAL YOUTH SPORTS REPORT CARD

ST. LOUIS — June 8, 2006 — The St. Louis Sports Commission and BJC HealthCare have joined forces to help make the St. Louis region home to America’s “best sports.” The organizations have developed a sportsmanship survey for coaches, officials, youth athletes and parents.

Utilizing the results, the organizations will release a report card on the state of sportsmanship in St. Louis later this summer. The Sports Commission will then implement a series of programs targeting coaches, parents, officials and athletes to improve the grades, create better environments for young athletes, and help make St. Louis home to America’s “best sports.”

Anyone involved with youth sports in the St. Louis metropolitan area is encouraged to take the online survey. It is available at www.stlsports.org/sportsmanship.

Through its affiliated Sports Foundation and Youth Programs, the Sports Commission is focused on promoting sportsmanship and creating more positive environments for kids to play sports. The organization intends to make St. Louis a model community for good sportsmanship.

“By making their on-the-field experiences more enjoyable, kids will be more likely to remain active in sports,” said Sports Commission President Frank Viverito. “Ultimately that will help them lead healthier, happier lives – a key part of the Sports Commission’s mission.”
