SLU SOCCER COACH DAN DONIGAN GIVES YOUTH COACHES A “BEHIND THE SCENES”
LOOK AT HIS JOB DURING FREE COACHING CLINIC THIS WEEKEND

ST. LOUIS – Aug. 23, 2005 – Saint Louis University men's soccer coach Dan Donigan will give youth and high school coaches a unique look into his preparation for games at a free instructional clinic Sunday.

The clinic, hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission's Sports for Kids program and the Taco Bell Coaches Club, takes place from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Robert R. Hermann Stadium on the SLU campus.

Donigan and his staff will break down the Billikens' exhibition game against Butler the night before and provide coaches with a game summary and video analysis of the contest. Instructors will also show coaches how to teach their young players proper soccer fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.

“Coaches who attend this clinic have the terrific opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at how coach Donigan and his staff prepare for and evaluate games,” said Troye Frank, the Sports Commission's director of youth programs. “On top of that, they will receive top-notch instruction on soccer fundamentals from one of the best coaching staffs in college soccer.”

Coaches can register by calling 314-992-0689 or visiting www.stlsports.org/kids. Every coach that attends the clinic will receive a Sports for Kids clipboard.

Sports for Kids organizes free coaching clinics that educate and motivate volunteer youth coaches in various sports. The clinics emphasize the value of sportsmanship and develop coaching skills to help participants become better coaches, and in turn, lead to more positive experiences for area children on the playing field. The mission of Sports for Kids is to help young people from St. Louis live healthier, happier and more productive lives through sports. Sports for Kids has joined forces with the Taco Bell Coaches Club to produce the coaching clinics. For more information on the Taco Bell Coaches Club, visit www.coachitright.com.
