SEARCH IS ON FOR 2,500 VOLUNTEERS
TO
HELP ST. LOUIS HOST
2005 NCAA® MEN'S FINAL FOUR®

ST. LOUIS — Aug. 2, 2004 — The St. Louis Organizing Committee for the 2005 NCAA Final Four is looking for 2,500 volunteers to help St. Louis stage one of its biggest sporting events ever. For area residents, volunteering is one of the best ways to be part of the “Big Dance.”

Those interested in volunteering can obtain an official Final Four volunteer application by visiting www.stlloc.org or calling 314-992-0684.

The 2005 Final Four takes place April 2 & 4 at the Edward Jones Dome. Volunteers will welcome and assist the more than 50,000 fans expected to visit St. Louis during the event. Specific volunteer roles include: serving as greeters and staffing information desks at the airport and hotels; assisting at hospitality functions; working the Hoop City ® interactive fan festival and NCAA YES ® Clinics; providing assistance to fans outside the Edward Jones Dome; and helping with various transportation needs connected to the Final Four.

All volunteers will receive an official volunteer uniform – polo shirt, jacket, cap and name tag – free of charge. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school; transportation volunteers must be at least 25 years of age. All volunteers are required to work at least two shifts, which could last from three to five hours depending on the type of assignment. First priority will be given to volunteers who submit their applications prior to Nov. 1, 2004. After that date, applications will be accepted until all of the available volunteer positions are filled. A list of volunteer opportunities and additional details can be found on the volunteer application.

“Our ideal Final Four volunteer is one who can help create an environment of friendliness and serve as a great ambassador for the St. Louis region,” said Missy Slay, executive director of the St. Louis Organizing Committee. “We need volunteers who are enthusiastic, flexible and willing to give 100-percent to make the event a success for the NCAA and St. Louis.”

The 2005 Final Four is one of seven NCAA championships that will take place in the Gateway City this decade. It's the first Men's Final Four to take place in St. Louis since 1978. The St. Louis Organizing Committee for the Final Four includes the Missouri Valley Conference, Saint Louis University, St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission and St. Louis Sports Commission.
