ST. LOUIS – June 7, 2004 – St. Louisans have a terrific chance to cheer on America's Olympic hopefuls this week as tickets remain available to the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Diving. The event takes place at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, and unless they're going to Athens, this is as close to the Olympics as area residents are going to get.

Fans may purchase tickets to the Diving Trials on site at St. Peters City Hall, which is adjacent to the Rec-Plex. Tickets will be sold at City Hall two hours prior to each session through the duration of the session. In addition, fans can order tickets through MetroTix by calling 314-534-1111, going online to www.metrotix.com, and visiting any MetroTix outlet including Schnucks and Famous-Barr stores.

The Trials, which begin at noon today, continue throughout the week with sessions at noon and 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 7 p.m. on Friday; 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday; and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets to the preliminary sessions (through Thursday afternoon) are $5, $10 and $15; tickets to the finals sessions (Thursday evening through Sunday) are $20, $25, and $30.

Approximately 100 of America's best divers are competing for 11 spots on the U.S. Olympic Team that will represent the United States at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens. The athletes competing in St. Louis include 2000 Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson and 2000 Olympian Mark Ruiz, who won a bronze medal at the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival held at the Rec-Plex.

The St. Peters Rec-Plex is conveniently located off of Interstate 70 just six minutes west of Riverport. Fans can exit at Cave Springs Road and head south to Mexico Road. At Mexico Road, turn right and proceed approximately two miles. The Rec-Plex and St. Peters City Hall will be on the left.
