STORIED OLYMPIC HISTORY
Diving is America's most dominant Olympic sport. USA Diving's storied history began when St. Louisian George Sheldon won the first gold medal in Olympic diving at a man-made lake just west of Forest Park in 1904. Since then, U.S. Diving has compiled the highest medal-winning percentage of all American Olympic sports. U.S. Divers have won 52 percent of the gold medals and 49 percent of all medals awarded since 1904.
