TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR THIRD ANNUAL ST. LOUIS FALL FACE-OFF

ST. LOUIS — Sept. 9, 2003 — Four top NCAA Division I men's lacrosse programs are coming to town to participate in the 2003 Fall Face-Off. Teams playing in this year's tournament are the Princeton University Tigers, the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the University of Massachusetts Minutemen and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. The St. Louis Fall Face-Off will be held on Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Anheuser-Busch Sports Center in Fenton, Mo. The two featured games – Princeton vs. Notre Dame and UMass vs. Ohio State – will face off at noon and 2 p.m. respectively.

The Princeton University Tigers have qualified for the NCAA Tournament the past 14 consecutive years winning the National Championship five times. Notre Dame is a perennial collegiate power having participated in the NCAA Tournament 10 of the past 13 years. The University of Massachusetts Minutemen have appeared in the championships 15 times, ranking seventh in number of appearances on the all-time list. Ohio State finished the 2003 season ranked No. 15 in the county before qualifying for NCAA postseason play.

The St. Louis Fall Face-Off is supported by the St. Louis Sports Commission and benefits its Sports for Kids program. Proceeds will help support youth amateur lacrosse in the St. Louis metro area and throughout Missouri. Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased in advance by calling the St. Louis Sports Commission at 314-992-0687. Tickets will also be available the day of the event at the front gate.
