SPORTS COMMISSION ADDS COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, EVENT ASSISTANT TO ITS STAFF LINEUP

ST. LOUIS — Sept. 8, 2003 — The St. Louis Sports Commission announces the hiring of Doug Bray as communications manager and Kelly Roberts as event assistant.

Bray comes to the Sports Commission from the St. Louis Rams, where he served as the public relations / publications / internet coordinator. He had been with the organization since 1997 and worked two Super Bowls and two NFC Championship games. At the Sports Commission, Bray will be responsible for implementing the organization’s communications initiatives and providing communications support for its events. The St. Louis area native is a 1998 graduate of Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville and a 1994 graduate of Jersey Community High School in Jerseyville, Ill.

Roberts joins the Sports Commission staff after interning with the organization this summer. Her primary focus will be on the NCAA Wrestling Championships, which the Sports Commission hosts in March 2004. Roberts is originally from Rea, Mo. In August she completed her coursework at Missouri Western State College earning a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration with an emphasis in sports marketing and management.

The St. Louis Sports Commission is the regional non-profit organization that benefits St. Louis through sports. In 2004, the Sports Commission will host the NCAA Wrestling Championships, U.S. Olympic Women’s Marathon Trials, U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, and the Global Torch Relay and Olympic Centennial Celebration.
