LOUIS Sept. 26, 2001 Its time to round up seven of your closest and sports savviest friends. The Sporting News, St. Louis Rams and the Sports Commission host the third annual Ultimate Sports Trivia Challenge at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at Rams Park in Earth City. The "pregame" meal and festivities get under way at 5:30 p.m. With an assortment of fabulous prizes on the line including Rams autographed footballs and other great items, eight-person teams will battle through 10 rounds of sports trivia on the Rams indoor practice field. Please avoid getting any potato chips embedded into the turf. Fans and trivia buffs can join Rams radio analyst Jack Snow, who will emcee the event, and several Rams players, who will roam the room to assist randomly selected teams with questions and perhaps answers. Participants can also press their luck in the Trivia Challenge raffle. This years grand prize is a trip for two to the Rams Dec. 17 Monday Night Football game in New Orleans tickets, transportation and lodging are all included. For a $300 team entry fee, Trivia Challenge participants receive a Super Smokers BBQ dinner, beer, soda, snacks throughout the evening, and door prizes. And new for this year, organizers created a special VIP package. In addition to food and prizes, the VIP package includes preferred seating, reserved parking, eight raffle tickets, and a pregame reception with a private tour of Rams Park hosted by Rams linebacker Don Davis. The VIP package costs only $450 per team if reserved by Oct. 15. After that date, its $500.
Proceeds from the Ultimate Sports Trivia Challenge benefit the Sports Commissions Sports for Kids program. Sports for Kids coordinates a series of initiatives that help young people from St. Louis live healthier, happier and more productive lives through participation in sports. Its signature programs include an annual Sports Career Day for area high school students, youth sports clinics, and a Coach it Right! initiative that helps adults in the community become better youth sports coaches and fans. The Ultimate Sports Trivia Challenge has raised more than $20,000 for Sports for Kids in its first two years.
