PROEHL BOWL

QUARTERBACK CLUB AND SPORTS COMMISSION
TO HOST RICKY PROEHL ROAST NOV. 5

ST. LOUIS — Oct. 24, 2002 — Ricky Proehl can hear the footsteps. Some pounding hits are headed his way — at least of the verbal variety. That’s because the St. Louis Quarterback Club and the St. Louis Sports Commission will roast the Rams’ wide receiver at a dinner Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Sheraton Westport Chalet. The event begins at 6 p.m., and is an opportunity to honor a St. Louis fan favorite. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Ricky Proehl Foundation. A silent auction will also be held to benefit the Sports Commission’s Sports for Kids program — a series of initiatives that help young people from St. Louis live healthier, happier and more productive lives through exposure to sports.

A celebrity lineup will be on hand for the roast to take their best shots at Proehl. Special guests include Rams players Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, Grant Wistrom and Jeff Zgonina. Carol Vermeil, wife of former Rams coach Dick Vermeil, is also scheduled to be in attendance. KTRS Radio sportscaster and Rams PA announcer Jim Holder serves as the emcee.

Proehl is in his fifth season with the Rams; 13th in the NFL. He is responsible for one of the biggest catches in St. Louis football history. His one-handed 30-yard touchdown reception in the 2000 NFC Championship game lifted the Rams to a victory over Tampa Bay, leading to St. Louis’ first Super Bowl appearance.

Tickets for the dinner and roast are $65. VIP tickets, which include access to a VIP cocktail party and preferred seating, are $100. Tickets may be purchased through the St. Louis Quarterback Club by calling 314-855-5000.
