CARDS RAISE CURTAIN ON GAME THREE WITH OFFICIAL PEP RALLY AT 3 P.M. SATURDAY

DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES AND FANS URGED TO TAKE PART IN THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER

ST. LOUIS — Oct. 3, 2002 — Break out the red. The Cardinals come home for Game Three Saturday and the festivities surrounding the first St. Louis home game of the Division Series begin at 3 p.m. that day. That’s the start time for the first (with hopefully more to come) Official Cardinals Pep Rally of the postseason. The Plaza of Champions outside Gate 7 along with Walnut Street between Stadium Plaza and Broadway will be alive with games, giveaways, food and live music by the Bob Kuban Band. The program portion of the rally gets under way at 4:30 p.m., and will last for approximately one hour. It will feature appearances by Cardinals broadcasters, management and local dignitaries. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Official Cardinals Postseason Pep Rally is sponsored by the Bi-State Development Agency, Downtown Saint Louis Partnership, Fox Sports Net Midwest, KMOX News / Talk 1120, KPLR-TV WB-11, the Regional Chamber & Growth Association, the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and the St. Louis Sports Commission.

The civic organizations involved in the rally encourage downtown businesses to "paint the town red" by lighting up area buildings at night and adorning them with "Go Cardinals" banners — a tradition in Baseball City, USA whenever the Redbirds appear in the playoffs.
