TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR THIS WEEKEND'S WARRIOR ICE BREAKER TOURNAMENT AT SCOTTRADE CENTER

SEASON-OPENING EVENT FEATURES FOUR OF THE PREMIER TEAMS IN COLLEGE HOCKEY

 

            ST. LOUIS – Oct. 4, 2010 – Major college hockey returns to St. Louis this weekend.  Boston University, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Holy Cross lace up their skates Friday night with one goal in mind: leaving St. Louis with the Warrior Ice Breaker trophy.  The excitement of this unique two-day, four-game tournament begins Friday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m.

All-session and single-session seats are available for the event.  Fans can secure tickets through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, and in person at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Scottrade Center box office.  All-session tickets provide admission to all four games and start at just $25.  Single-session tickets are good for either the two opening round games on Friday, Oct. 8, or the consolation and championship games starting at noon on Sunday, Oct. 10.
Single-session tickets start at only $15.  

The programs competing in the 2010 Ice Breaker share 11 NCAA titles.  Boston University won the 2009 Division I championship; Wisconsin advanced to the 2010 Frozen Four final.  Two St. Louisans are on the Badgers’ roster: Sean Dolan (Kennedy) and John Ramage (Marquette).  The Ice Breaker is hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission and overseen by College Hockey, Inc., the newly formed organization that represents the interests of the 58 NCAA Division I college hockey programs. 

BOX OFFICE HOURS:  The Scottrade Center box office, located inside the Clark Street entrance, will be open at the following times:

  • Monday, Oct. 4 through Thursday, Oct. 7 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Friday, Oct. 8 – 10 a.m. to the end of the second period of Boston University vs. Wisconsin (game two)
  • Saturday, Oct. 9 – 10 a.m. to the end of the second period of Blues game
  • Sunday, Oct. 10 – 10 a.m. to the end of the second period of the championship game

 

ICE BREAKER JR. TOURNAMENT:  In addition to the college games at Scottrade Center, more than 100 youth teams from around the country will participate in the Warrior Ice Breaker Jr. Tournament.  Ice Breaker Jr. games will be played at 11 venues in the St. Louis area beginning at 8 a.m. Friday.  With 1,700 players and their families in town for the tournament, the Ice Breaker Jr. will generate significant visitor dollars and hotel room nights for the region.   

BUD LIGHT HOCKEY FEST:  The Bud Light Hockey Fest takes place on Saturday and Sunday on 14th Street between Market and Clark.  Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy live music, food and drink, and interactive games.  The Hockey Fest runs from 4 p.m. up to the Blues season opener at 7 p.m. on Saturday.  At 6 p.m. the Blues will unveil a Brett Hull statue outside Scottrade Center.  Hull will be in attendance at this special ceremony.  The Bud Light Hockey Fest continues on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

ICE BREAKER STREET HOCKEY FEST:  Kids ages 6 to 12 will have the opportunity to learn how to play hockey in a fun and safe atmosphere.  The Ice Breaker Street Hockey Fest takes place on 14th Street (between Market and Clark) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10.  The St. Louis Sports Commission’s Sportsmanship Initiative is producing the free youth hockey festival.  Interested participants can register by visiting www.warrioricebreaker.com.
