ST. LOUIS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE SEEKS
VOLUNTEERS FOR 2009 NCAA® WOMEN'S FINAL FOUR® IN APRIL
ST. LOUIS – Feb. 19, 2009 – The pinnacle
of women’s college basketball is just weeks away and although tickets
to the NCAA® Women’s Final Four® (April 5 & 7) in St.
Louis are sold out, there are still ample opportunities for local residents
to get involved.
While many of the 1,500 volunteer slots have been filled, the St. Louis
Organizing Committee (SLOC) is still seeking volunteers to assist in a
number of ways. Currently, the SLOC’s biggest volunteer need is
for NCAA Hoop City® Refreshed by Coca-Cola®, the free interactive
fan festival taking place at America’s Center. Hoop City volunteer
duties include greeting fans and staffing the interactive games and activities.
Hoop City will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday (April 4-6) from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteer opportunities are also available at the Women’s
Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Convention. WBCA volunteers
may choose from a variety of tasks ranging from greeting participants
to assisting with events taking place in the exhibit halls.
All volunteers will receive official volunteer apparel free of charge.
Volunteers must register for a minimum of three shifts, attend a training
session, and be 18 years of age or older by March 30, 2009. Transportation
volunteers must be at least 25.
To register as a volunteer, visit www.NCAA.com/finalfour
and click on the volunteer link. For more information, call 314/992-0623
or e-mail wffvolunteers09@stlsports.org.
