Pat, a physical education teacher at Hartsville High School in Hartsville, S.C., just completed her 37 th year at the school. The recipient of numerous teaching and coaching awards, Pat was named NASPE’s Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2001 and Converse National High School Basketball Coach of the Year in 1994. She has the admiration and respect of coaches throughout the East Coast. Since 1980, the Lady Red Foxes have been one of the top girls’ programs in South Carolina – winning three state championships and finishing as runners-up twice. Her all-time coaching record stands at 425-181. Pat’s honors include: being the first inductee into the Coker College (Hartsville, S.C.) Athletic Hall of Fame; Sports Illustrated Coach of Influence (2005); the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the High School Sports Report in 1996; and Hartsville Woman of the Year in 1996. Pat is currently the South Carolina State Coordinator of Secondary Teacher Development with the state’s Physical Education Assessment Project. She has authored several published articles and has presented at numerous local, state and national conventions.
