Representing the highest ideals of the NAIA in character and sportsmanship as well as in academic and athletic abilities is how one professor describes Brandon, the 2006 Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award recipient. A recent graduate from John Brown University, he is one of the most prolific basketball players in NAIA history. Brandon, the 2006 NAIA Player of the year, holds the record for most three-point field goals made in the history of college basketball (527) and eclipsed all NAIA and NCAA records by making a three-point field goal in 120 consecutive games. He is the all-time leading scorer for both John Brown University and the Sooner Athletic Conference. In 2004-05, he led the Golden Eagles to the NAIA Division I Championship and was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Off the court, Brandon is an Academic All-Conference honoree majoring in Business. He speaks at local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Huddles and completed an internship with the FCA last summer. Brandon works with area children during little league basketball camps and has participated in several NAIA Champions of Character assemblies and presentations. “His ability to maintain his values in the heat of competition has defined his greatness both on and off the floor,” said JBU assistant coach Donnie Bostwick. “I would make the argument that no other athlete has ever made as big of an impact on an NAIA campus than what Brandon Cole has made at John Brown University.”
