Lou Brock

St. Louis Cardinals

Lou is regarded as one of baseball’s finest players and an ambassador for the sport. A Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, Lou played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1964-79 and remains active with the club as a spring training instructor. Lou and his wife, the Reverend Jacqueline A. Brock, are involved in many Christian charities and civic activities in the St. Louis community, including the Lou Brock Scholarship Foundation. The foundation provides annual scholarships to needy, college-bound high school students. Since 1983, more than 200 scholarships have been awarded to students who live in the St. Louis area and Lou’s hometown of Morehouse Parish in Northeast Louisiana. The Brocks believe that “all young people deserve a chance to discover their God-given talent, define their purposes, demonstrate their skills and achieve their full potential and destiny.” The couple travels across America delivering inspirational and motivational speeches. During his 19-season major league career, Lou stole 938 bases, batted .300 or better eight times and was selected to the all-star team six times. He accumulated more than 3,000 hits and helped lead the Cardinals to three National League pennants and two World Series championships. Lou was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985 and named one of Major League Baseball’s top 100 players of the century.
